Using fusible thread in the lower looper while attaching binding is a great help. After sewing it on you can fuse it in place to hold while machine or hand stitching. In this I also show you how to turn the corners neatly and close the ends.
Let me show you how easy it is to secure a chainstitch or coverstitch so it stays locked in place when you need it too. It is also easy to find the correct thread to pull so that the chainstitch or coverstitch just zips off. This is a great way to sew together a muslin when making a garment so that you can easily remove the stiches to adjust for fit. After serging the binding on my quilt with fusible thread, I stitch in the ditch with 100wt Invisafil by Wonderfil. Of course, any thread can be used for this but if you want your stitching to virtually disappear this is the thread to use.
Putting the binding on a quilt with fusible thread is a great technique to add to your bag of stitching tricks. The fusible thread goes into the looper and when you finish stitching the binding on the front you then turn the binding to the back against the fusible thread and press.
